Conflict is an important element in film that serves to convey the value of the story and encourage character development. This research aimed to analyze the types of conflicts experienced by the main character in the film Wonder and the impact of the main character's conflicts on his social environment.
The methodology employed in this research was a descriptive qualitative. The primary data source was the film Wonder directed by Stephen Chbosky, with a focus on dialogue. Secondary data sources included relevant articles, journals, websites, and books. Then, Data collection involved several steps: watching the film repeatedly, taking notes, and analyzing the data. The data analysis technique used in this study was qualitative content analysis through a systematic process by Miles & Huberman (1994), involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification.
The findings showed that Auggie experienced four types of conflict: intrapersonal conflict, interpersonal conflict, intra-group conflict, and inter-group conflict. The impact of these conflicts was both negative and positive on Auggie’s social environment.
