The objectives of this study were (1) to describe the types of politeness strategies used by the main characters of the movie and (2) to describe the factors that influence the use of politeness strategies by the main characters of the movie. The researcher used qualitative approach in this study. The object of this study was The Bachelors movie by Kurt Voelker, released in 2017 at the Box Office. In collecting the data from the movie, the researcher used document analysis to collect the data and used note cards to record the data. In classifying the data, the researcher used table. Qualitative discourse analysis was used in this study to analyze the data. The procedure of the analysis were coding, decoding, categorization and confirmation. The result of this study showed that (1) there were three types of politeness strategies which were found in the movie, namely bald on-record, positive politeness and negative politeness;(2) the factors that influenced the use of politeness strategies were payoffs and social distance.
