RICKY BAKER PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS IN HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE MOVIE

Abstrak

The title of this research is Ricky Baker’s Personal Characteristics in Hunt for the Wilderpeople Movie. Ricky baker is the main character of this movie. He is an orphan’s boy. His mother left him, so he lived under Child Welfare from birth. His life changed when a married couple adopted him. This is library research where the researcher collected the data from many sources; books, journals, and internet. The researcher analyzed the intrinsic elements which are characters and characteristic to support the main analysis. This research aims to describe the personal characteristic of Ricky Backer as the main character of Hunt for the Wilderpeople Movie by Taika waititi viewed from Personality Traits theory by Costa and McCraee.

To analyze the personal characteristics of Ricky Baker, the researcher used descriptive-qualitative method. The researcher collected data by reading the script, marking every scene of the movie, and captured every screen which shows the personal characters of Ricky Backer as the proof.

The researcher finds the most dominant personal characteristics of Ricky Baker of Ricky Baker as, naughty, stubborn and brave. The bad treatment from people around Ricky Baker’s life is very influential. The researcher interested to analyze the movie because of the main character makes the movie passionate and fun. The author could make this very unpredictable.

From the analysis, the researcher concludes that Ricky Baker is the major character and the personal characteristics of Ricky Baker viewed from Personality Traits Theory by Paul Costa and Robert McCraee are openness (negative), conscientiousness (negative), extraversion (negative), agreeableness (positive) and neuroticism (negative).
